Institute showed a lot of character this afternoon trailing 2-1 at half time against the run of play, for a second week running. However this week, unlike last Saturday they turned defeat into victory. The entire team showed fantastic character and completely outplayed Tobermore in the second period scoring five. The visitors actually came out of the blocks flying and man of the match McCrudden, hat trick hero, scored a fine individual goal in just the 4th minute.
‘Stute played good possession football and were creating chances but it was Tobermore who went in at the break leading 2-1 converting their only two shots at goal, but the Sky Blues did defend poorly.
The Management obviously read the riot act at half time, and Stute completely steam rolled Tobermore in the second half equalising within minutes of the restart. A neat cross from the impressive Ricky-Lee Dougherty was powered into the net by a Stephen Parkhouse header. Stute kept piling on the pressure and Ricky Lee got his goal with a neat finish past the keeper, and Sean Roddy was rewarded for his hard work with another thumping header. But Micheal McCrudden was a thorn in Tobermore side all afternoon and scored from the penalty spot (video below) emphatically and then another superb individual goal at the death when he scored from an acute angle.
The result secured second spot in the Championship and continues the quest for promotion.
