A 1-1 draw away to Warrenpoint on the last day of the season was enough to see Institute secure third place, after Bangor lost at Limavady. The first half reflected much of the season, with the home side taking the lead on 23 minutes against the run of play. Despite good chances for McCready and McLaughlin, Stute were unable to get back into the game before half-time. However 15 minutes into the second half the visitors had the equaliser they deserved – Sean Roddy taking advantage of some poor goalkeeping to head hisside level. Stute were only denied a win through great saves which kept out McCready and McCrudden, but in the end the point was enough to finish third.
