Institute won the North West derby this afternoon 1-0, but the scoreline flattered the visitors. The Sky Blues got the only goal of the game in the 35min after good work from Ricky-Lee Dougherty, his pass put McCrudden through on goal. The keeper did an excellent save but McCrudden got a second chance with the rebound and cooly converted. A fair reflection of the first half would have been Stute leading by at least three with Dougherty playing some excellent stuff but his finishing letting him down. In truth Ricky-Lee should have been celebrating a first half hat trick. The second half started similar to the first with the home side pressing but the Limavady keeper was having a superb game. In fairness to the Roesiders they did push forward for a late equalizer, similar to Luxembourg against Northern Ireland, the home fans were nervous that after all the chances Limavady would steal a point. Stute did hold out with good defending and an absolutely superb one handed save by Gallagher to push the ball around the post. All in all a good game of football, with some excellent passages of play and a well deserved three points.
