Having failed to grab an away goal on Tuesday night, as well as conceding, ‘Stute where in an unfavourable situation. With the home side needing to show their usual grit and character manager Kevin Derry made two changes with Sean Roddy and Jamie McIntyre coming into the starting eleven in place of Darryl McDermott Gareth Brown.
The first half started with ‘Stute looking cagey and uncomfortable on the ball, with Ballyclare forcing the home side into mistakes. However, as the fifteenth minute mark approached ‘Stute started showing what they where capable off. As the twenty minute mark passed Jamie McIntyre was played through on goal and finished like a seasoned veteran. ‘Stute continued to dominate the ball, and Sammy Morrow saw a spectacular lobbed effort just bounce wide of the goal frame. Ballyclare tried to kick start their game however it was too late, and the first half finished with ‘Stute one ahead.
‘Stute came out fighting second half and kept Ballyclare pinned down despite questionable refereeing. The home support didn’t have to wait long for a second, with ‘Stute’s right wing wizard Stephen Curry scoring an unbelievable lob. ‘Stute kept fighting tooth and nail and eventually got rewarded for their efforts, with Stephen Curry doubling up after capitalising on a mix up in Ballyclare’s back line! Ballyclare scored with ten minutes remaining, and set about a cagey ten minutes. However, the home team emulated their manager’s fight and desire and won 3-1, leaving them one round of play-offs away from the Premier League. Dean Curry, Jamie McIntyre, Michael McCrudden, Sammy Morrow and Stephen Curry deserve a huge amount of credit and raised their game when they needed to most.
An unbelievable display from the whole team, who kept their cool under extreme pressure, and show once again that they are premier league quality. Full-time Institute 3 vs. Ballyclare 1
