After the club lost its former secretary Derek Coll yesterday, Institute took on PSNI at the Limavady Showgrounds eager to maintain their charge for promotion.
The first half started with ‘Stute dominating play. The home side created several well worked opportunities with Sean McCarron catching eyew with several close efforts. ‘Stute continued to dominant and were unlucky not to score with the PSNI goalkeeper on top form. PSNI came into the game in the last quarter of the first half, but created very little in terms of chances. The first half ended goalless.
The second half however was a completely different game as PSNI came out fighting. ‘Stute continued to created chances however failed to find their excellent passing rhythm from the first half. Just before the hour mark, ‘Stute were rewarded for their attacking efforts, when Michael McCrudden found the back of the night to give ‘Stute the lead. The second half continued and remained scrappy, however ‘Stute saw the match out to collect three valuable points in their quest for promotion.
