After a thrilling end to their opening day fixture against Dergview, which saw ‘Stute gain all three points; ‘Stute took on Lurgan Celtic in their opening first game at home.
Looking to build upon their impressive opening fixture, ‘Stute scored a goal just three minutes in. Robbie Hume scored a brace from twenty-five yards to the keepers near post. ‘Stute continued on in an attacking vain, pressing high up the pitch and full backs pushing regularly into the final third. ‘Stute’s back line held strong whenever Lurgan Celtic tried to ask questions, with Caoimhin Bonner and Mark Scoltock looking solid in the middle of defence.
The second half continued as the first one ended, ‘Stute on top of play. ‘Stute continued to force the agenda through the half, with positive play and speed to their attack. However all their hard work was undone, with Lurgan Celtic scoring a soft goal. Despite this ‘Stute persevered and had a goal disallowed for an offiside. However, a second goal was not forthcoming, with the home side missing a series of golden oppurtunites to snatch a victory.
