After a devastating week for the club, which seen the club’s pitch and stadium destroyed after horrific flooding, the club travelled to Ballyclare looking for a morale boosting win. After an impressive performance against Lurgan Celtic a similar performance was desired only with more composure in front of goal.
‘Stute started fantastically well, and scored inside two minutes to give them an ideal start to the game. However, a poor decision saw Ballyclare gain a penalty. Marty Gallagher pulled off an excellent save. However, the decision broke all ‘Stute momentum and from this they were on the back foot. Ballyclare equalised soon after, after good play down their right hand side. ‘Stute conceded another penalty, in an incident that saw the referee book the wrong player. Ballyclare scored to give them a lead. ‘Stute showed signs’s of fight and finished the half creating chances.
However, ‘Stute’s week took another dismal turn and they had to endure a horrific forty five minutes. The away side conceded four goals, clearly the flooding at The Riverside affected the team morale. Credit to Ballyclare, they were clinical in front of their goal and took their chances extremely well.
