Institute 6-2 Coagh United

Institute delivered an impressive statement of intent as they matched the score that Championship favourites Carrick Rangers rattled in against the unfortunate Coagh the previous weekend.

Two early McCrudden penalties, both for fouls on McFadden, had given Stute a 2-0 lead before the 20 minute mark, although Coagh had their own penalty appeal for a McKeever handball waved away in between the goals.

Elder halved the deficit immediately after the restart, but McLaughlin, Hume and McFadden all scored to extend the lead to 5-1 as Stute moved through the gears.

Elder scored the goal of the game with a superb curling effort to reduce the arrears, but Stute had the final say when McCauley played a delightful one-two with McFadden and stroked the ball into the bottom corner.
