Institute 3-4 Bangor

August 6th, 2011 | by admin

Institute got off to the worst possible start against Bangor by going one down after 20 seconds. Things got worse in the 8th minute when Morrow doubled the visitors lead.

The Bangor pressure continued and just before the interval they were awarded a penalty- much to the anger of stute defender Gareth Smith who claimed the ball struck his stomach, and not his hand.

The ref pointed to the spot and Scates converted the penalty. Half time, Institute 0-3 Bangor. The second half started just as the first ended with Bangor in control and went 4-0 up with Youle heading in unmarked from a corner in the 53rd minute.

Stute rung the changes and brought on the inspirational Corey Hegarty who caused the Bangor defence havoc. Corey skipped past two defenders and crossed for Ryan Browne to head in to make it 4-1. After more Stute pressure, Joe McCready made it 4-2 from a corner.

Moments later McCready tapped in from Sean Roddy’s cross to make it 4-3 with minutes remaining, but Bangor managed to hold on to leave the final score, Institute 3-4 Bangor.
