Institute eased into the quarter-finals of the Intermediate Cup with a couple of late goals from Davitt Walsh. Banbridge took the lead midway through the first half when a McLaughlin defensive header fell nicely for McGrath who curled the ball over Gallagher from the edge of the penalty area. Stute equalised a few minutes later, however, when McKeever crowned a mazy run with a shot into the bottom corner. Stute continued to press for the remainder of the first half, hitting the woodwork twice, but it remained 1-1 at the break.
In the second half, chances were at a premium, with the best one actually falling to Banbridge following a defensive error, and it was beginning to look like extra-time would be required when Taylor, who had joined come on, curled the ball into the area for Walsh to direct his header into the top corner. And Walsh sealed the win deep into injury time when he slotted past the keeper to complete a 3-1 win.
