Institute 1-0 Limavady United

September 7th, 2011 | by admin

Institute progressed to the final of the North West Cup thanks to a second half header from Stephen Parkhouse.

‘Stute started the brighter of the two teams with some neat football stemming from Harkin and Friars, but both defences held firm leaving it 0-0 at half time.

Limavady came out the second half looking the stronger with Lee Patrick hitting the woodwork with a header. From then in it was end to end stuff with chances going astray on either side.

It took a touch of class to break the deadlock and Stephen Parkhouse provided it by leaping above Limavady centre half Stuart Moore to head it in the top corner.

The visitors then brought on former ‘Stute forward Kevin Ramsey, but the creggan man failed to make an impact.

Institute progress to the final of the North West Cup, where they meet Coleraine on Tuesday 25th October.

Venue to confirmed.
