Institute continued their quest for a play-off spot with the long trip to, in form, Loughgall. The villagers beat ‘Stute play-off rivals Ballyclare Comrades 4-2 last weekend in the Irish League Championship.
The Sky Blues took the lead in the 27th minute, Niall Grace played a superb through ball to Kyle Friel-Curran (photo) who dispatched the ball into the net. Just before the visitors took the lead they were denied by two point blank saves from the home keeper.
On the half hour mark Kyle Friel-Curran latched onto a loose ball at the edge of the area and curled it into the back of the net , with the keeper unsighted, to double ‘Stute’s the lead.
Just before the break January signing Sammy Morrow was through on goal, but yet again the Loughgall keeper was in inspired form to deny the ex Linfield forward with a one on one save.
Half Time: Loughgall 0-2 Institute
‘Stute started the second half confident and within 10 mins of the restart Sammy Morrow made amends for his miss late in the first half. The ever impressive Stephen Curry put over an excellent cross which Sammy headed into the back of the net to put the visitors 3 up.
4 minutes later the match was over as a contest with the Drumahoe netting their fourth of the afternoon. A long range effort was parried by the home keeper but Stephen Curry was quickest to react and smashed the ball into the net.
With 15 minutes remaining veteran defender Mark Skoltock came on for Stephen O’Donnell with ‘Stute playing keep ball. Then shortly after Kyle Curran-Friel was replaced by Gareth Brown, an excellent aftern0on for the former Dergview player with a brace of goals in the first half.
Allex Pomeroy replaced Micheal McCrudden for the last ten minutes.
Excellent performance on the road.
