Institute kept themselves right in touch at the top of the Ladbrokes Championship 1 table with a fine 2-0 victory over H&W Welders at Tillysburn Avenue. Declan Mckeever put the visitors ahead with a fine strike from 25 yards after good build up play from Stephen Parkhouse. With not much in the game itself- the Welders were handed a golden opportunity to level matters after Joe Gray upended Verner to hand the hosts a penalty- but ‘Stute stopper Corey Wilson pulled off a great stop to deny Verner. Then, just on the stroke of half time McFadden broke clear down the right hand side only to have his shot blocked by the keeper with the ball landing at the feet of the experienced Parkhouse and the big striker made no mistake from all of 10 yards doubling the visitors lead to 2-0 at the break. And that was as good as it was going to get for the Stute as the match ended 2-0. It now leaves us 3 points behind Warrenpoint with a game in hand- so its all to play for with 4 games remaining.
