Following the recent announcement of money being released to the IFA to revamp Windsor and other IFA projects, Derry City are now in a position to redevelop the Brandywell. Grants from Sports NI have been allocated to Derry City and also to Glentoran’s Oval in Belfast. The redevelopment of the Brandywell will mean that the grounds will be temporarily unavailable for football, so Derry City have approached Institute FC for the use of the Riverside. The construction work is not due to commence until next season, after Derry’s current campaign, which will be in November 2011. As this is only a temporary agreement Institute FC are more than happy to oblige and let Derry City ground share. However, Institute plans to meet local residents to ensure they are happy enough with the arrangements.
