Kilmore Rec pulled off the shock of the round by knocking high flying championship side Institute out of the Irish Cup. The county down men got off to the best possible start, when with only 2 minutes on the clock, ‘Stute centre half Paddy McLaughlin misjudged his back pass and left Telford clear to slot past the helpless Gallagher. Stute regrouped and although having all the possession, they could not break through a resilient ‘Rec defence. With the second half only a few minutes in, Parkhouse misses a glorious opportunity to equalise for the hosts- but the big centre forward lost possession and Kilmore caught Stute on the counter attack with Telford through one on one only for Taylor to bring the forward down, not only concede a penalty- but a also a red card. Stephen Douglas dispatched the resulting penalty to leave the visitors 2-0 up. Minutes later Stute centre half John Curran received a straight red for a reckless challenge leaving Stute down to 9 men. Although reduced to 9 men, the Drumahoe men battled to the end but left themselves with too much to do. Congratulations must go to Kilmore Rec and Institute F.C wish them all the best in the next round.
