On the eve of the club’s away tie against high-flying Ballymena United in the NIFL Premiership, there is much ongoing debate about what this encounter will have in store for the Sky Blues.
However, for club chairman Keith McElhinney, the fact that such games are even evoking so much excitement and discussion is a major positive in itself, and regardless of the outcome tomorrow night, he feels it just goes to show the “massive step forward” the club has taken since gaining promotion to the top flight.
Speaking to the club press this evening, McElhinney had the following to say:
“Tomorrow’s match against Glenn Ferguson’s team is another huge game for us, and it symbolises the massive step forward we have taken as a club over the last year and a bit.”
“There is a resurgence of excitement and anticipation around the Riverside, and that’s all due to Institute being back in the top flight of Northern Irish football where we rightfully belong.”
“We have a great set-up down here, Institute is a proud club made up of committed and hard working coaches, players and volunteers – we have all come together to get ourselves in this position and now we are reaping the rewards with fixtures like this one.”
